Meet the very young and very talented working man, Ditlev Lommer. Ditlev is a real suit-nerd and made it into a living in 2016. He started the brand Ditlev Lommer which deliver made-to-measure suits, handmade in Italy. He’s professional and dedicated and persistent whit a capital P! Get to know the young man and brand which definitely can make you dapper…

Why suites?
A suit is the ultimate way for a man to dress. It signals power, status and good taste if done right. What I like about the suit is that you have so many possibilities style wise.  The possibilities are endless. Both in terms of the type of fabric, pattern and how you choose to blend it. The suit is the most diverse garment but also one of the hardest garments to get right.

How does the concept work?
I offer concierge service so it’s possible to be measured in the office, at home or wherever desired by the client, and of course I will deliver personally as well to make sure everything is on point.

It’s tailored so almost everything is possible. I will assist through the entire process right from the selecting of the fabric, the cut, buttons and every little detail in general, but in the end the client decides for himself.
Anyone who has the slightest interest into my brand is more than welcome to send me an e-mail or give me a call to hear more.

Who is your customer?
My customer is the self conscious and confident businessman who won’t compromise on quality or good service.

What are your brand’s strongest qualities?
The quality of our materials and the way we produce our clothes are definitely some of our strongest qualities. But I also think that the history behind our clothes and the way in which we differ from other brands on the market is what justifies our existence.

Describe the man you see wearing your brand
As I mentioned above, he’s a self conscious and confident businessman. He is a busy guy so he enjoys the concierge service. He acknowledge the importance of appearance and is very quality oriented.

If your brand were a music genre, which one would it be?
I think I’ll have to say progressive rock and art rock. Much like Genesis when Peter Gabriel was on vocals. The thing I like about art rock is that it aims to be much more than just entertainment. It’s more like an artistic statement and it often makes use of alternative and unusual elements. Especially Peter Gabriel is known for exactly that. My aim is to elevate tailoring and imbue it with opulence and evocativeness and therefore I’m very conscious about my approach to the history of the Neapolitan Tailoring School and how I mix it with my own interpretations.

Which movie character would wear your clothes?
Dickie Greenleaf from The Talented Mr Ripley. He possesses a certain nonchalance and a southern European mentality along with his urge to enjoy everything that’s good in life.

If you had not started Ditlev Lommer, what would you do?
I would probably be studying economics. I always thought I would be studying economics after high school, but I’ve also always had this romantic idea of starting my own business. Of course one does not exclude the other and I actually have thought about studying while I run my company as well.

How does your profession affect your way of dressing?
I certainly wear a suit more often now than before I started my company, and, when it comes to selecting colours and patterns, I probably have more freedom than for example a bank executive. But my way of dressing has definitely affected my profession as well. I’ve always taken pride in dressing well. Ever since I was a young lad I would put on a shirt and a tie when going to a birthday party or any other kind of festivity.

You are a type of drawing tool, what are you and why?
I would like to be a charcoal stick. There is something diabolic and captivating yet graceful and bright about it. But I honestly think there are others better suited to answer that.

If you could pick any man in the whole world, who would you like to represent your brand?
Nick Wooster.

Who’s your muse and why?
I don’t really have a muse. I get inspired all the time by a lot of different things but I
can’t quite put my finger on anything in particular.

How do you drink your coffee?
Irish.

Your signature drink/cocktail?
Singapore Sling.

How do you eat your steak?
Rare.
