You can tell from afar that Morten does care a whole lot about what he is wearing, but does not care what other people think about it. Every inch of his outfit and look is well thought through; from his parfume to his shirt collar. Morten is confident, well mannered and humble, just like his style. Learn more about the well dressed man and find out what car he compares himself with and what type og food truck he would like to open.
If you and your closest friends had a food truck, what type of food would you serve?
We would probably be serving oysters and champagne, but only during the summer. Otherwise, we would serve different varieties of homemade pasta – preferably topped with truffles.
During your teenage years, who were your celebrity-crush?
It was, and still is, Emma Watson. She is incredibly beautiful, and I also really admire the humanitarian work she has been doing over the last couple of years.
What would the title of your biography be?
Who would play you in a movie?
Probably Seth Rogen or Robert Downey Jr.
If you were to start up a new magazine, what would it be about and why?
It would be a lifestyle magazine concerning men’s fashion and fragrance, also including cars, jewellery, watches, and food. I think such a magazine is missing in Denmark. The closest we get is Luxury Aficionados.
What is the latest track you chose to listen to?
Though I mostly listen to jazz and classical music, I have recently picked up on listening to Michael Jackson.
What’s the oldest piece of clothing you have and are still using?
A red quilted race jacket by Ralph Lauren. I bought that piece about six years ago.
Stylewise: which car are you?
The 1938 Bugatti Type 57SC.
Your favourite outfit from 8th grade?
Anything with a cardigan!
Describe your style with just two words
Old fashioned with a modern twist.
Your three favourite brands?
Chanel, Ralph Lauren and Tom Ford. The founders of these brands are also people who have inspired me the most through my life. I embrace the strong, feminine and modern power that Gabrielle Chanel were able to communicate through her clothing – a power that has only been highlighted after Karl Lagerfeld took over as head designer in 1983.
Ralph Lauren has an incredible talent for creating the most divine and luxurious clothing, interior, and surroundings, and Tom Ford has an insanely precise understanding of how to cut a man’s suit and make it appear, and feel, light and absolutely wonderful.
I have to throw in a fourth option as well: although I do not wear clothing by his brand, I have a deep and genuine respect for Karl Lagerfeld, and my style is highly influenced by him.
What is your favourite accessory?
With no doubt the perfumes created by my close friend, Roja Dove. Roja is a Master Perfumer based in England, and he simply creates the most extraordinary perfumes I have ever come across. Especially his perfume, Diaghilev, which he created for an exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, has become my signature, and a lot of people usually remember me for my scent.
How do you pick your accessories?
I believe that devil is in the details, so a lot of thought goes into picking the accessories I wear. I can sometimes stand with a product in my hand for several minutes, turning and evaluating it.
When it comes to perfume, however, it is all about closing your eyes and smelling the scent. Either, the scent will take you to a fantasy future, or it will let memories flow from your olfactory bulb and take you back to a moment from your past.
For instance, whenever I smell rosemary in a scent, it immediately takes me back to my childhood when I visited Southern France with my family almost every summer. I remember the rosemary bushes standing under intense heat during the day, and then when nightfall came and the air got cooler, the bushes would release the most divine scent.
Which accessory do you see yourself wearing both now and in 10 years?
My perfumes by Roja Dove. Otherwise; definitely ascots. I love ascots!
Which accessory/accessories have you not yet dared to wear, but wish to start wearing?
I am actually not afraid of wearing any specific accessories. If I like it, I will wear it.
How much time do you spend on grooming yourself in the morning?
About 15 minutes. That is usually the time it takes for me to shave my neck with my beloved straight razor, as well as trimming my beard.
Your “can’t-live-without”-grooming product?
As I tend to have dry skin on the forehead, my face looks tired and slightly dull if I do not apply a facial moisturiser.
Describe your grooming routine?
Shave my neck, comb my hair, apply facial moisturiser, and trim my beard.
How do you drink your coffee?
I prefer the Cortado, but whenever I am at Original Coffee in Illum Rooftop, my favourite coffee shop, I order a “Foss”, which is somewhat between a cortado and a cappuccino.
Your signature drink/cocktail?
How do you eat your steak?
Medium-rare, preferably topped with foie gras.
